Little Cot holiday home in St Just in Penwith, in Cornwall

livingA cosy fully-restored traditional granite cottage in St Just in Penwith, situated between St Ives and Land's End. The cottage is very well equipped, has two bedrooms and can sleep four people. The ground floor is open plan with a comfy sitting area and the hand-crafted kitchen includes a dining table for four. The bathroom has a shower and small bath, and there is a small pleasant enclosed courtyard garden with a picnic bench. The cottage is a five-minute stroll from the large free car park. The stairs are open plan, so are not safe for very young children.

The cottage sits close to the coast in the centre of historic tin mining country, now designated a World Heritage Centre and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Stunning local beaches abound including beautiful Sennen Cove and Porthcurno. St Ives can be reached by car along the glorious coastal road, or by bus (open-topped on fine days). A short walk downhill from the front door of the cottage takes you through farmland to Cape Cornwall, one of only two capes in mainland Britain, where small fishing boats still work out of Priest's Cove. The Cape is a perfect spot for seeing wildlife and there are records of sightings of dolphins and rare birds. The South West Coastal Path stretches North and South along some of the most beautiful cliffs in the land.

rearSt Just was formerly central to the Cornish tin mining industry and most of the buildings are constructed from local granite: traditional housing for mine workers. With a good choice of galleries, shops, pubs and cafes and an abundance of walks along the coast there is plenty to see and do in the town itself. For a small town, the facilities are good: butchers, bakers, greengrocer, hardware store, library, doctor's surgery, hairdressers, beauty salon and taxi to name a few. Plus a small airfield just up the road, mainly serving the Scilly Isles - great for a day trip. Fans of Poldark will recognise scenery around St Just where much of the filming took place.

There is no extra charge to bring a dog and they are welcome on the understanding that they are kept under control, exercised off the premises and are not permitted in the bedrooms or on the furniture.
